Applications of 3D scanning

Reverse engineering

3D scanning allows you to accurately reproduce the geometry of existing parts and create a digital model of them. This helps to modernize old structures, create spare parts or optimize products.

This process is often used in mechanical and electronic engineering.

Part Inspection and Measurement

3D scanning allows you to quickly and accurately compare physical parts with CAD models or technical drawings.

This ensures quality control, dimensional verification, and manufacturing process improvement.

Digital Twins

3D scanning creates accurate digital representations of physical objects or environments.

Digital twins are used for design, analysis, archiving, and process optimization.

Digital twins can help preserve data about valuable objects for the future.

Medicine

3D scanning enables the precise capture of human anatomical structures and the development of personalized solutions.

Scanning technology is used in orthopedics, prosthetics, implant planning, and medical device manufacturing.

Why to choose 3D scanning?

3D scanning is becoming an increasingly important part of modern digitization and manufacturing processes – it allows physical objects to be quickly converted into accurate digital 3D data. The global 3D scanning market is growing by an average of about 10% per year – new technologies are making scanning increasingly accurate and easier.

Reproduction of complex geometry

Even very complex shapes, organic surfaces or details that would be difficult or economically unprofitable to accurately model in CAD programs are scanned.

Easy Model Editing

Once created, 3D models can be adjusted, optimized, and adapted to new needs. This is especially useful for restoring broken, worn, or discontinued parts before 3D printing or other manufacturing methods.

Quality control

3D scanning allows you to compare the manufactured part with the CAD model and identify manufacturing deviations, deformations, or wear.

Mobility

Modern 3D scanners are compact and easily transported, so scanning can be performed both in our office and at the client’s location.

Is 3D scanning done in your studio or can you come to the client?

The scanners we use are mobile – we can come to your location, if the piece cannot be moved safely due to size or fragility.

Can you create a CAD model (reverse engineering) after a 3D scan?

Yes, a scanned object can be recreated in a CAD program – the accuracy depends on the design of the object and the quality of the scan performed.

How should I prepare an object for 3D scanning?

It is important that the object being scanned is clean, without additional (unnecessary) elements, so that it can be easily bypassed from different sides. Some surfaces (glossy black, transparent, mirror) require additional preparation and a special scanning program. When scanning parts, the surface of the object is often covered with adhesive markers, which are scanned by the scanner.
